We have recently received word from Trimble that the HPB450 base radios can no longer be converted to narrowband to comply with the new FCC “Narrowbanding” regulations that will take effect on January 1st, 2013. What does this mean for current HPB450 users? This means that if you currently have a Trimble HPB450 base radio that has the 25khz channel spacing, it can no longer be converted to 12.5khz. A new Trimble TDL450 radio will need to be purchased in order for your RTK GNSS system to remain compliant with the new FCC regulations. In order to make this change to 12.5khz successful, you will also need to have your RTK receivers changed over to 12.5khz in order to talk with the narrowbanded base radios. Also, you will need to get your current FCC radio license ammended to comply with the new rules by the end of this year. Please read the Trimble Survey Product Bulletin for more information
